The war and conflict between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kurds has been going on for more than four decades. The root of these differences can be expressed by three main reasons. From the very beginning, the Kurds have called for democracy, a national solution, and the separation of religion and state. But in the religious philosophy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, there are no national issues. Democracy is also considered foreign, and the export of the Islamic Revolution is considered one of the duties of the state.

Payam Khezri was born in 2006 in Erbil. His mother and father were forced to flee the Islamic Republic of Iran due to their political activities. They had received threats from the regime in Iran. The family live in the Jazhnikan Refugee Camp outside of Erbil. The camp has been designated to house Kurdish refugees from Iran. Payam is a middle school student and he is quite good at playing football. As a refugee, Payam does not have an Iraqi identity card.
Nishtman Mustafapour was born in 1993 in the city of Bukan, in West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. Her mother and father were forced to flee the Islamic Republic of Iran due to their political activities. They had received threats from the regime in Iran. The family has lived in the Jazhnikan Refugee Camp outside of Erbil for the past ten years. The camp has been designated to house Kurdish refugees from Iran. Nishtman graduated from Ernie University with a degree in management in 2014. As a refugee, Nishtman does not have an Iraqi identity card and she is currently unemployed.

Dldar Smko was born in 2005 in a Kurdish town in East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. Her mother and father were forced to flee the Islamic Republic of Iran due to their political activities. They had received threats from the regime in Iran. The family has lived in the Jazhnikan Refugee Camp outside of Erbil since 2011. The camp has been designated to house Kurdish refugees from Iran. Dldar is now a middle school student. She said, “I cannot solve the identity problems of these children. I want to travel to Europe to study. I will come back later, maybe I can help them then.” As a refugee, Dldar does not have an Iraqi identity card.
Diako Kurdstani was born in 2009 in Erbil. His mother and father were forced to flee the Islamic Republic of Iran due to their political activities. They had received threats from the regime in Iran. The family have lived in the Jazhnikan Refugee Camp outside of Erbil for more than 15 years. The camp has been designated to house Kurdish refugees from Iran. Diako is now in the fifth grade of elementary school. He wants to be a Kurdish language teacher in the future. As a refugee, Diako does not have an Iraqi identity card.
Hawjin Rasoulzadeh was born in 2002 in the Kurdish city of Piranshahr, in West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. Her mother and father were forced to flee the Islamic Republic of Iran due to their political activities. They had received threats from the regime in Iran. The family have lived in the Jazhnikan Refugee Camp outside of Erbil since 2016. The camp has been designated to house Kurdish refugees from Iran. Hawjin is very interested in painting and has hung one piece of her artwork in her room. She is very quiet. As a refugee, Hawjin does not have an Iraqi identity card.

Her uncle, Hedayat Abdullahpour, a civil activist, was recently shot dead by the Islamic Republic of Iran. As a refugee, Sergul does not have an Iraqi identity card.
Aso Saedi was born in 1982 in the Kurdish city of Sanandaj, in Kurdistan Province, Iran. She was forced to flee the Islamic Republic of Iran due to their political activities. She had received threats from the regime in Iran. She has lived in the Jazhnikan Refugee Camp outside of Erbil since 2011. The camp has been designated to house Kurdish refugees from Iran. Aso is currently studying sociology at Koya University in Koya. As a refugee, Aso does not have an Iraqi identity card.

Darya Mohammedi was born in 1999 in the Kurdish city of Paveh, in Kermanshah Province, Iran. Her mother was forced to flee the Islamic Republic of Iran due to their political activities. They had received threats from the regime in Iran. The family has lived in the Jazhnikan Refugee Camp outside of Erbil since 2016. The camp has been designated to house Kurdish refugees from Iran. Darya is currently studying sociology at Salahaddin University in Erbil. Darya underlines that she, “is against war – when we came here my whole life was turned upside down.” She currently lives with her mother. Her father is in Iran. As a refugee, Darya does not have an Iraqi identity card.
Chako Asris was born in 2002 in the Kurdish town of Oshnavieh, in West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. His mother and father were forced to flee the Islamic Republic of Iran due to their political activities. They had received threats from the regime in Iran. The family have lived in the Jazhnikan Refugee Camp outside of Erbil since 2012. The camp has been designated to house Kurdish refugees from Iran. Chako was not able to study due to these circumstances for some years, but he has now enrolled in a high school to continue his studies. He does not have an Iraqi identity card but dreams of becoming a famous YouTuber.
