Soran Qurbani is a documentary photographer and filmmaker trapped in the war bubble. Born into a Kurdish family in Iran during the civil war in Kurdish region of Iran followed by the 1979 revolution is the main reason why he focuses on social-political conflicts and the suffering that follows. He started his photography journey at the age of 17, but began his career as a storyteller through documentary filmmaking. As an Iranian photographer, he focuses on the Middle East and all the turmoil in the last few decades. Since the rise of the Islamic State (ISIS) he has travelled countless times to Iraq and Syria to cover the conflict. During these trips he witnessed the dramatic violence aucoring. He tries to find hope and dignity in sorrow and pain.
