Indian Photography Festival 2021

Middle East Images photographer Younes Mohammad “Open Wounds” series is selected for the Indian Photography Festival.
Open wounds is a longterm project which documents daily lives of the Kurdish Peshmerga after the war with ISIS.
Most have lost body parts and have to deal with ongoing care, prosthetic limbs while they provide for their families despite their injuries.

Rayan born in 2011, going out of the room while she has his father’s artificial feet in hand. Her father, Weshyar Aziz Maghdid was born in 1981 and he is Peshmarga since 2006 and he got wounded in fighting ISIS in Aug 2014 in the Qwer area in Mosul Governorate. Her father got wounded by an IED when they are driving at the frontline and he lost a leg and he got a lot of shrapnel on his body. Her father has three kids and he has a 95% disability.
