Forbidden Friendship

Portraits of dog owners and their dogs in neighborhoods. Owning dogs in Iran is illegal, dogs are considered “unclean” in Islam hence the anti-dog rules. It is frowned upon in public to keep dogs inside apartments . These laws have been criticized by dog owners but so far changing the laws has been a true struggle.
The relationship between these pets and their owners is mutual love, but yet the owners tolerate the criticism and objection that comes with keeping an animal companion.
Dog owners specifically are being attacked, blamed and shunned by local authorities with their animals being taken away from them.

Rose ages 28 years old, with her dog (Teddy), Which is 1.5 years old. She took Teddy after her mariage.
“Hector is one of my beloved sons and he is the best companion of all time”.Mohammad said. Mohammad Shakerian 58_year_old, with his dog (Hecktor), Which is 6 years old. He has been taking care of Hecktor since it was a very tiny one day born puppy.
Fahmieh Nasehi aged 58 years old,with her dog (Jessi), Which is 13 years old. She has been taking care of Jessi for 6 years.The last owner of Jessi has got a severe disease and he could not be able to take care of her anymore, so he left Jessi to Fahmieh to make sure if she were in a good condition.
Amir aged 27 years old, with his dog (Ophelia), which is years old.Amir is an Iranian living in the states.He is back in the town and happy to see his puppy again. During Amir’s absence his father and brother took a good care of it.
Elena aged 34 years old, whit her dog ( LOOLOO), which is 7 years old. She has been taking care of LooLoo for 6 years. She is suffering from cackache, and she has been under so many surgeries since she was kid.
Sepenta aged 28 years old, with his dog (Oddi), Which is 6 years old.He has been taking care of Oddi for 6 years. Although his parents are not satisfied with keeping dogs at home but he does and they got used to it.
Markiz aged 30 years old, With her dog(Sugar), Which is 2 years old.She has been taking care of Sugar for 2 years.
Hamid 28 years old and his dog (Jojo). Hamid lives alone and he almost spend all of his time with his dog. Jojo is a naughty dog and most of the time he doesn’t follow his owner.
Miss.Pourseif, aged 32 years old, with her dog (chika), Which is 3 months old.
Amirali aged 32 years old, with his dog (Tala), Which is 2 years old. In persian “Tala” means gold that’s why he put this name on her. Amirali loves her so much but he is a soon to be father and thinks whether he should keep it or give it to another family.
Yasha aged 31 years old, with his dogs From left (Banoo, Bruno) . Yasha is a professional pianist and a dog trainer as well. His been doing this for several years and he is almost an expert in this.People leave their dogs for some weeks to be trained by him.
